Prix d'Amérique : Sévérino biding his time
Given the results in the winter meeting, the time of Sévérino is it come? Its rise took shape as evidence in all cases.
Sévérino has took the sixth place in the 2011 Prix d'Amérique at 5 years-old. A year later, the horse of Christian Bigeon is again at the start of the race queen. And biding his time ...
Between light and shadow
Last year, Sévérino had entered the Prix d'Amérique by winning the Critérium Continental . At the time, it was a great reward for one who dominated his generation, but missed all major events (3rd in the Critérium des 3 ans , disqualified from the Prix de Sélection , 3rdin the Critérium des 4 ans ). On d-day, no one wait for him against "old", and yet the horse of Christian Bigeon had answered by pulling the sixth place after a magnificent stretch. Promising.
We hoped to see Severino assert in 2011,but it is unfortunately fell through in her by finishing to the second place in the Critérium des 5 ans
behind Scoop of Yvel
. The crack announced continued to disappoint. And then the winter meeting happened. Race after race, the rise of Severino took shape as evidence, making it increasingly clear his claims raised in the 2012
Prix d'Amérique
. Second in the Marcel Laurent
, amazing second behind Ready Cash
in the Prix du Bourbonnais
(unshod of 4), sixth in the Prix de Bourgogne
after a long run of waiting, the horse of Christian Bigeon
has completed its preparation by winning as a champion the green card in Ténor de Baune
.
The time for Severino would come?
"Better than last year"
"The logic is that it is a race with rhythm ... But there are horses like
Ready Cash
and
Maharajah
that are major cracks. If we take a place we will be happy."
In good coach, Christian
Bigeon
is prudent. He knows that the opponents in the Prix d'Amérique
will be formidable. But we feel that this position as an outsider arrange his affairs and his ambitions: "There may be some pressure, but I'm not the favorite
, he says in the columns of Paris-Turf. Sévérino
was not marked by his victory in the
Ténor de Baune
. (...) It is awesome, perfect, better than last year."
Of all the horses in sight, it is the only wait. A tactic of race that could fly if pace. If he has a good run, if he can get back up in the hill by one of the favorites, Sévérino could then run this race that we expected for so long. That's a lot of conditions, admit, but the course is always crucial in this kind of racing, and this time he could smile it. Never very happy when it is to him to do the game, it should benefit this time of a fast tempo (with Timoko , Maharajah and Quif de Villeneuve how could it be otherwise?), and especially the battle that the main favorites are sure to indulge in the lead (not counting the probable attacks of Royal Dream and other Quif de Villeneuve who have nothing to lose). It is to Sévérino to do that others forget him and to force fate when he will see the light. It seems that it is often down the road ...
